The (*10*) Center for Technological Innovation celebrated its 10 years with a gala occasion on Oct. 23.
In attendance had been MIT President L. Rafael Reif; Ian A. Waitz, dean of the School of Engineering; Marc Kastner, dean of the School of Science; MIT school, college students and supporters who’ve been engaged with the middle over the previous decade.
The night kicked off with a showcase that includes merchandise from many of the (*10*) Center’s spin-out corporations. President Reif thanked Desh and Jaishree (*10*) for his or her generosity and imaginative and prescient in establishing the middle and introduced them with a (*10*) Center Visionary award.
In addition, “Ten-Year Catalyst” awards had been introduced to Jamie Goldstein, Mark Gorenberg, Steve Kelly, Stan Reiss and Eric Swanson, in recognition of their dedication and contributions to the middle. Catalysts are volunteers who help in grant evaluations and supply mentoring to (*10*) Center initiatives.
Since its inception in 2002, the (*10*) Center has helped deliver greater than 90 analysis initiatives towards sensible industrial utility, providing $11 million in grants and leading to 27 spin-out corporations.
