AcuRite has announced it will be discontinuing its “My AcuRite” app on May 30, 2026, in favor of its newer “AcuRite NOW” platform. The company says keeping the old app running is no longer practical because its technology has become outdated.
Why Both Apps Can’t Be Maintained
While online complaints acknowledge that many customers are satisfied with My AcuRite’s features, AcuRite’s VP of product development, Jeff Bovee, explained that supporting it long-term is not feasible. “The technology behind My AcuRite is obsolete and can no longer be maintained,” Bovee said.
AcuRite is choosing to focus on a single app to save money and improve “long-term supportability.” Bovee elaborated on the challenges, stating, “Even if the app continues to function for many users, the underlying systems require ongoing maintenance, updates, hosting, monitoring, security support, and compatibility work as phones, operating systems, cloud services, and third-party integrations continue to change.”
A New Online Dashboard is Planned
Alongside the app’s retirement, AcuRite has also removed the old web dashboard that allowed users to manage their devices via a browser. Bovee explained this was necessary because “the web dashboard, mobile app, cloud services, and device connections were all tied to the same older system.” He confirmed that AcuRite is planning a new web-based dashboard for the AcuRite NOW platform, though a release date has not yet been announced.
Acknowledging Customer Frustration
The company is aware that the transition has been difficult for some long-time users, especially as the new app currently lacks certain features like the ability to rename multiple sensors or report temperatures with decimals.
Despite the frustrations, Bovee hopes customers will not abandon their devices, noting that AcuRite went “to great expense to bring those legacy weather stations along” to the new platform.
“We know the move to AcuRite NOW has not been as smooth as some customers expected, and we understand the frustration that creates. We’re not dismissing that feedback,” Bovee said. “We’re asking for patience as our team continues to fix issues, improve usability, and build out the new platform. Our goal is to earn back confidence by making AcuRite NOW the best user experience in home weather stations.”
