This morning on LinkedIn I noticed a submit by Gary Stager (embedded beneath) wherein he linked to a group of Logo sources that he is compiled on The Daily Papert.
Reading Gary’s submit and looking out via the sources jogged my memory of two issues. First, as I wrote in response to Gary, after I was in elementary faculty I had an ideal instructor who launched us to Logo. 34 years later I nonetheless have fond reminiscences of these days that he stayed after faculty in order that my buddy and I might tinker all we wished (or till I needed to go dwelling to begin my paper route). The image on the prime of this submit is the Google Street View picture of the surface of the elementary faculty classroom wherein I first used Logo.
The different factor that Gary’s submit jogged my memory of is the disheartening feeling I get after I point out Logo in the present day to individuals who have job titles like “tech coach” they usually don’t know what I’m speaking about. Worse nonetheless is after they have these titles and inform me that they do not do any type of programming in any respect.
If you do not know what Logo is, head to Gary’s checklist of sources to begin studying about it. If you do know what Logo is, check out Gary’s checklist of sources and see if there’s something new to you or if there’s something that reminded of by studying via the checklist. On that observe, I’m going to thumb via among the notes I took after I learn Mindstorms for the primary time.
